    after which Jeff interviews her about the music of today in relationship to stars like her and the influence of the rock music as against standards; eventually getting around to background information about Billy. She reveals an in- cident of Billy's heavy drinking (which Billy later denies.) The interview is broken up by noise of ambulance sirens. Jeff runs back to the ambulance area and finds that Morey has been severely-beaten. As attendants carry Morey to the ambulance/ and in the ambulance, Morey bitterly assails Jeff for butting in and digging where only innocent people like himself end up the victims. Jeff swears he knows nothing, has done nothing to lead to Morey's attack. Morey warns that Jeff knows more than he thinks, but no amount of prodding can get what that information is from the ter- rified comic. Nor who inflicted the beating. Jeff senses he has inadvertently stumbled into a morass, but has no idea of what it is. As the ambulance pulls away, Jeff and Peggy, his assistant, walk and talk their way back to Jeff *s room. She reports her findings: Billy is definitely a drinker, or was up to a year ago. On the night he missed his performance, he had been drinking heavily with a group, including a groupie, TUNE DAYTON. Peggy couldn't locate June, but she has found the girl's best friend who suddenly has amassed enough
