/FREEMAN company PUBLIC RELATIONS 1/30 World Press Premiere - "Meet Me in Las Vegas" PLAN: Stage the premiere at the El Portal Theatre, Las Vegas on Tuesday, March 6, 1956. Invite reviewing press from cities on attached list. Transportation to be shared by Resort Hotels Association members. Press invited from Tuesday - Thursday. Press names are drawn from hat for hotel accommodations. Press and celebrities to arrive in Las Vegas by 5 PM on Tuesday. Premiere set for 8 PM. Press eat dinner at respective hotels and are transported to El Portal by individual hotel. Press and celebrities urged to wear Western dress. Hats and string ties with name of movie to be distributed to them at hotels, so they arrive at theatre dressed western. Press scheduled to arrive at theatre at 7:30 PM. Stars scheduled to arrive at 7:45 PM. Upon arrival stars gather around huge roulette table, with Hank Henry dressed as Variety Barker acting as dealer, for pictures. Stars also pose with portable "jail" set up near box-office for pictures. Jail supposedly is for?╟ anybody who doesn?╟╓t come dressed Western --- he must pay $5 into Variety fund for his release. Variety officers in tuxedos act as attendants, greeting press and celebrities. Two Variety officers in tuxedos, with Western gunbelts around their middle, act as jailers. Picture announced as starting in 5 minutes at 8 PM. Platform to be mounted at one side of box-office for cameramen. Both sides of box-office to be roped off and policed carefully to avoid crowd crush. Fremont Street blocked off for traffic. Lane kept open for cars bringing press and stars. Crowd should be in street behind rope and wooden-horse police barriers. Spotlights set up. Trooper spotlight set up across street in 2nd floor building. Red carpet lead in to lobby and theatre.
