Rebel Experience Budget: Entertainment - approx. $2500 Food, Tents, Tables, etc... - approx. $5,000 Depending upon cost, I am going to arrange to provide FREE food to UNLV students, if the cost is too much for that, than I will pay for 50-75% of the food cost. CALL TO ORDER SENATE PRESIDENT DAVY called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. II. ROLL CALL III. ANNOUNCEMENTS SENATE PRESIDENT DAVY announced that there will not be a meeting next MondagSf Current Senators need to file again if they would like to keep their seat. President Harter's State of Campus Address is in Bailey Theatre on Septmeber 12th. STUDENT BODY VICE PRESIDNET KNAPP announced that the advisory council is going well. It meets every Thursday at 7:30. As of right now there are 30 students on the councils and about ten more pending interviews. Campus Life Council is closing because it has reached maximum capacity. There are no more applications being distributed. The other two are rapidly filling up. Director Bohlke will be at Board of Regents meeting this Thursday and Friday as will SENATOR POWELL on Friday. Any others interested in attending should feel free. The meeting is at the Cheyenne campus of the Community College. STUDENT BODY VICE PRESIDENT KNAPP is in contact with Nevada Beverage Association about getting discounted alcohol for the Rebel Experience starting for the third game and on this issue there has been a decision made that there will not be alcohol served at Choose or Loose. Business Manager Report Business Manager Jim Moore reported expenditures of $490.31, $40.00, $134.75, $184.75, $105.50, $16.50, $105.00, $344.88, $250.00. D. Directors' Reports Brooke Bohlke - Director of Nevada Student Affairs Director Bohlke was not present at the meeting and did not have a report. Jennifer Hale - Director of CSUN Services Director Hale reported that recognition packets are out and 130 have been picked up. Everything is going well, just basic answers to questions have been taking place—there have been no major problems. 20 new organizations have requested applications so far. She reported that she has been working on information session. Sean McClenahan - Director of Entertainment and Programming Director McClenahan had Assistant Director of E & P Bowers say that he apologizes for not being here but here is a list of upcoming events: Rebel Experience #1 - September 16,2000 4pm Sam Boyd Stadium before the 7pm football game v. North Texas. Oozeball Concert - September 22, 2000 - 5:30pm - North Field - Bands TBA Choose or Lose Concert - September 29,2000 - 6 - 11 or 12 Calvin Klein/Ford Motors Ignite Tour - Combines extreme sports with music. Headliner bands are Pennywise and Common Sense. The tour brings exhibits from CK and Ford as well as extreme sports exhibitions. MTV Undressed will have a tent to pass out promo CD's, T-shirts & condoms Rebel Experience #2 - September 30, 2000 4pm Sam Boyd Stadium before the 7pm football game v. Air Force. Jason Smylie - Director of Office of Student Information Reported there is no OSI page because there is no Rebel Yell. Thanks to SENATOR M. MORADKHAN and DIRECTOR McCLENAHAN for helping out with the booth today. Keep the bios coming, he is proud of those who have made the effort to get them into him. The Choose or Lose Banner is on display outside of the Union. Holly Wainscott - Director of Elections Director Wainscott was not present at the meeting and had no report. VI. OLD BUSINESS A. Action Item: Nomination/Election of one person to serve as a member of the Judicial Council for a two-year term, effective September 1, 2000. VII. NEW BUSINESS A. Action Item: Nomination/Election of one senator to serve on the Provost Search Committee. As submitted by Senator Bowers; SENATOR HUMPRHEY moved to open nominations, seconded by SENATOR BRINK. SENATOR HUMPHREY moved to nominate SENATOR M. MORADKHAN, seconded by SENATOR DAYANI. Nominations close. Move into a vote on the item. Motion passes (16-0-0). SENATOR M. MORADKHAN received the seat. C. Action Item: Discussion/Approval of expending an amount not to exceed $8,000 for the five Rebel Experiences. Costs to be encumbered from the CSUN 2702 (Entertainment and Programming) FY 00-01. SENATOR BOWERS moved to amend the attachment for the entertainment to read 3,000.00 paid to Pat Ellis, seconded by SENATOR GONAZLES. There was no discussion. Move into a vote on the amendment. IX. GOOD OF THE SENATE SENATOR HOMAMAPOUR said he called voters to see if they were going to the polls and that he consoled the loser—Lance Malone. SENATOR DAYANI had no comment. SENATOR BOWERS had no comment. SENATOR BRINK had no comment. SENATOR SOLDANO had no comment. SENATOR POWELL had no comment. SENATOR RING had no comment. SENATOR FLEMING had no comment. SENATOR PELTYN had no comment. SENATOR BOWLAND had no comment. SENATOR FAUSKE had no comment. SENATOR DICK had no comment. SENATOR HUMPHREY had no comment. SENATOR M. MORADKHAN said to have a great week and yielded the floor to STUDENT BODY VP KNAPP who said that there was a gentleman who asked if anyone wanted to volunteer to help at the Interfaith student center to hook up with international students and help them transition to Las Vegas. SENATOR CORNELISON said she was sorry she was late. SENATOR GONZALES had no comment. X. ADJOURNMENT SENATOR GONZALES moved to adjourn, seconded by SENATOR DAYANI.
