Phyllis Friedman

Phyllis (Herwitt) Friedman (1941- ) is the former director of the Nevada region office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the former foundation director of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, Nevada. Born July 8, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Friedman grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois. She was the Midwest director for the American Friends of Hebrew University when she was recruited to be the first foundation director of the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas around 1997. She moved to Las Vegas and served in this position from 1997 to 1999. From 1999 to 2007, Friedman lived in Los Angeles, California and was the Western States Director of ORT America, a Jewish education advocacy group. She returned to Las Vegas in 2007 and served as the Nevada Director of ADL until she retired in 2015. In 2012, she received the Director's Community Leadership Award from Las Vegas division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in recognition of her collaboration with law enforcement and her work with local schools through ADL's No Place for Hate program.
