Nathan Adelson was the administrator of Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in Los Angeles, California, Adelson was in the supermarket business before he moved to Las Vegas in 1961. His son Merv Adelson, along with Irwin Molasky, built Sunrise Hospital and recruited Nathan Adelson to be its administrator. He was well-loved for his dedication to patient care and was known affectionately as "Mr. A" to the hospital staff. He served as director of the Board of the Federation of American Hospitals and was active in numerous civic and religious groups. In Las Vegas Adelson was a member of Temple Beth Sholom and Nate Mack B'nai B'rith Lodge. When he passed away from cancer in 1978, Merv Adelson, Irwin Molasky, and other close family and friends established a hospice in his honor, the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
