Contents of this collection have not yet been reviewed for sensitive materials. Collection is open subject to review; documents containing personally identifiable information need to be removed prior to access by researchers. Some material in this collection are closed for seventy-five years from the latest date found on an individual record to protect privacy and confidentiality. Access is restricted under provisions of state or federal law and are closed to all except the department that created them, UNLV General Counsel, the director of the originating program or division, or their designees until January 1, 2071.

Biographical / Historical Note

The UNLV Faculty Senate consists of unit senators from each of the academic colleges at UNLV, At-Large senators, and Administrative Unit representatives. The Faculty Senate participates in the shared governance of the university by voting on university bylaws, responding to surveys and inquires promoted by the senate, and reading the regular reports of its chair and committees. The senate advocates for competitive compensation, adequate benefits, and an inclusive and equitable work environment through numerous committees including the Academic Freedom and Ethics Committee, Campus Affairs Committee, Program Review Committee, and Tenure and Promotion Committee.

Acquisition Note

Materials were transferred to the University Archives by the UNLV Faculty Senate; accession numbers 1994-048 and 1998-085. This set of records includes former record group numbers 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.6.3, 4.6.4, and 4.6.5.

Processing Note

In 2019, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Christina Lamoureux rehoused the materials, created a brief summary of materials, estimated dates, identified material types, and entered the data into ArchivesSpace. No other work has been performed on the materials.
