Biographical / Historical Note

As part of the larger national punk movement, the Las Vegas, Nevada punk rock scene surfaced in the early 1980s and consisted of several bands that frequently played in the city. Many of these bands emerged from Los Angeles, California. Some regular bands included The Ramones, The Germs, Misfits, Meat Puppets, Wasted Youth, Black Flag, FSP, TSOL, Circle Jerks, Shattered Faith, Agent Orange, Self Abuse, and Bad Attitude, among others. This genre of punk rock was noted for its strong social critiques of economic and political authority in the United States. Las Vegas became a destination where punk rock bands could play exploratory music that was raw and full of energy. Originally, the materials were a part of an exhibit entitled, "The Art of Las Vegas Hard Core" which ran from October 24 to November 15, 2013.
