TAKING HADASSAH INTO THE YEAR 2000 Working under the premise that if you sit still, you will fall behind, Hadassah continues to look towards the future with hope and great expectations, constatly reevaluating, and adjusting itself, without deviating from its basic mission?the support of Israel and the Jewish people. The Strategic Planning Department is dedicated to helping Hadassah remain timely, effective, and forward-thnking. Currently, the Strategic Plannng Committee?comprised of Hadassah members, national board members, staff, and even one non-member-is in the process of developing a strategic plan to be approved at the 1996 National Convention that will guide Hadasah from 1996 through the year 2000. The 1993-1994 Srategic Plan resulted in a number of initiatives and innovations that were researched and carried out by speciaally-commissioned task forces. One of the most signifaicant accomplishmants was the formation of the National Commission on American Jewish Women which, in conjunction with the Cohen Center at Brandeis Universiy, studied the issues of importance to American Jewish women, theri final report, officiall released at the Council of Jewish Federations' General Assembly in November, will form the basis of many progrmas and projects well into the future. Among the numerous tsk forces that were created, there was one to evaluate outreadhe to prospective members, recommending that we concenrate on attracting yonger women to Hadassah. Another group discussed he need to improve communications between members and the National board; the structure of the organization was studied, and a group examined wolunteer and staff cooperation. The Israel Projects tsk force continues to evaluate Hadassah's projects and programs, how they are meeting Israel's current needs, and whether there is a need for some shift in ou focus, by building on the work of the past three years, the new Strategic Planning Committee will help to determing where Hadassah wants to be in the future, and what it needs to do in order to get there.
