WAYS AND MEANS REPORT FOR MARDI GRAS 2000 Theta Theta OmegaPatti Hester, Ways and Means Chairman March 5,2000Mardi Gras 2000 was held at the Rio Suites Hotel and Casino February 5, 2000. The ball was well received by the community and Sorors in attendance. The following is a report of the ball.FOODThe food was OUTSTANDING! It was requested that African American chefs prepare the food. The Rio Hotel went beyond to fulfill this request and is commended for their exemplary services. We can truly say, “our plates runneth over!”SERVICEThe service provided by the hotel staff was above standards, with no one guest lacking for anything. The servers were fast, efficient and served dinner promptly at the time requested by the committee.DECORATIONSThe decorations were festive and created an ambiance for an exciting and fun-filled evening that enjoyed by all. Guest participation increased when the table and floor decorations were given as door prizes. This effort produced guest comments of This will be an annual event in my personal calendar!” and “Doi give you my $65.00 now for next year?”DOOR PRIZESThe committee extends many thanks to Mr. Ed Martinez and Carnival Cruise Lines for the money raised for scholarships and gifts donated for our raffle. This effort also increased guest participation for other Alpha Kappa Alpha endeavors.TICKET SALESKudos to Soror Janet Rhoden for being the first Soror to sell a table for ten guests.
