Roosevelt Fitzgerald: letter regarding UPI coaches basketball poll

Twice, in one week, the city of Las Vegas and the entire state of Nevada was insulted. I use the word insulted because I realize that the word which is most appropriate cannot be printed. 

The first insult came from the lips of Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, Warren Burger. The second came from the actions of four coaches who participated in the UPI Coahces basketball poll: Stan Morrison of USC, Digger Phelps of Notre Dame, Marv Harshman of Washington and Lui Carnesecca of St. John's.

Let's talk about the latter first.

Those four, alleged coaches, in the balloting of February 14, 1983 refused to acknowledge the existence of the UNLV Running Rebels. In case you missed it, the UPI failed to rank the Rebels Number One in college basketball. Oh, they received over nine times (28) as many first place votes as did Indiana which, incidentally, was ranked number one with only three first place votes. 

Those four infantiles, because of their warped sense of fairness and their eagerness not to see the Rebels in a possible number one position refused to admit that the Rebels

The gov. sense of himself influenced by his children at the [not legible] table.

Smith described as a simpleton.

"Dad used to tell me that Joe Payne was the finest man he ever knew."

"I'll do nothing to disgrace the office of United State Senator."

Taking stuff for granted -- The price of demo is eternal vigilance".

Liberty is too precious a thing to be hidden in history books.

Men need to hold it up front of [not legible] every day

You can't count on people voting" Certain People were denied the right to vote.

"Oh bury me not the lone [not legible]"

"You can't just quit..."

"A 40' dive into a tub of water but I think you can do it.'
