A Celebration of Life LLOYD "HOME BOY" BRYANT Sunrise: May 3 0 , 1 9 3 2 Sunset: June 15, 2 0 0 4 Thursday, J u n e 2 4 , 2 0 0 4 1:00 p.iii- Services and Interment Palm Mortuary 1 3 2 5 North Main Street Las Vegas, Nevada Rev. Willie C. Wheaton. Officiating Lloyd Bryant was born to Caldwell and Eddie Bryant on May 30, 1932 in Stamps, Arkansas. Lloyd passed away on June 15, 2004 with his family by his side. Lloyd was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of Medina Temple where he held the rank of 33rd degree Mason. Lloyd was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Little Rock, Arkansas and Vallejo College. He attended and was a great supporter of the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff (formerly Arkansas A M & N), Philander Smith College, Community College of Southern Nevada, and University of Nevada Las Vegas. He was a resident of Las Vegas for more than fifty years. I f there was ever a successful entrepreneur in Las Vegas, it was Lloyd Bryant, affectionately known as Home Boy. Lloyd began his business ventures in 1957 by opening the first black owned insurance and real estate business on Jackson Street with his secretary, Julia, by his side. They met while attending the Nevada College of Commerce in Las Vegas and were married shortly afterwards. Business was usually brisk in the various stores that Home Boy owned, but if there was ever down time, you could be sure to find him in the back of the store playing chess, coon can, dominoes, or telling some good lies to keep his friends amused. If you remember and/or patronized The New Breed, his men's clothing store that was located on the corner of H and Owens, then you were possibly one of the best dressed men when you stepped out on the town. Lloyd was a man with many talents. He possibly served some of your needs at Jockey Travel, the North Las Vegas Water Store, the Water Boutique, as a tax advisor at H & R Block, and as a accountant at Lloyd's Public Accounting. He took care of his many clients at Hershel's Pest Control, Lloyd's Record Shop, Shoes Unlimited, and Prudential Realtors. Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Denise Bryant Odumosu and Jamila Nelson of Las Vegas, and Tara Gardner of Los Angeles; two sons, Michael Bryant of Antioch, CA and Lloyd Bryant II of Oakland, CA; twin sister, Lois Rounds of Rockford, IL; sister, Jessie Mae Richardson of Camden, AR; five grandchildren: Damon Harris, Catherine Bryant, Michael Bryant II, Grayson Odumosu, and Jamar Bryant; one great-grandchild, Camryn Bryant, former wife Julie Bryant-Walton of Peidmont, CA; four nephews, three nieces, and host of loving relatives and friends.
