The Lincoln County Division Club was formed in Las Vegas in July 1908 to convince the state government to separate the Las Vegas area from Lincoln County and make Las Vegas the new county seat. Lincoln County covered the entire southeastern portion of Nevada at this time and government administration was conducted from Pioche. Petitions for county division had started as early as 1905. Clark County was eventually founded on July 1, 1909.
