Description

This photograph has three images. The first one, (0272_0011) depicts two people. It reads, "Georgia and I at entrance to top of dam. Head tower of massif government hi-line, to handle 50 ton sections of pipe," as a handwritten inscription. The second one, (0272_0012), also shows two people and reads "York and Georgia." The third one, (0272_0013) that's rotated reads "Another view of head tower of government line; notice large 6 cables it uses," as a handwritten inscription.

This photograph has three images. The first one (0272_0017) rotated to the left reads, "High mixing plant (blending and mixing plant," as a handwritten inscription. The second one (0272_0018) reads "Shay engine used at mixing plant. Instead of pistons or drivers, wheels are turned by screws; screw driven," as a handwritten inscription. The third one (0272_0019) is a picture of two people, and it reads, "York and Georgia at screening plant,"on the back.

Morrison "Georgia" and the photograph reads, "Pal and co-worker, we have shared our hardships, our fun, from the beginning of our time on Boulder Dam," as a handwritten inscription.

This photograph has three images. The first one (0272_0098) shows John T. Kizziar's poll tax receipt; it was collected by Six Companies Inc on 3-31-34. The second image (0272_0099) reads, "'Finished' with Tommy (brother-in-law), and Dicky, greeting us on our return from work. " The third one (0272_0100) has an inscription that reads, "'Finished'. Ferry across Colorado River to Kingman, Arizona. The only crossing to Las Vegas from Arizona."

This photograph has three images. The first one (0272_0101) depicts a typical dam worker's home. It has a handwritten inscription that reads, "For Sale: former 'dam worker's' home." The second one (0272_0102) shows a billboard outside of Las Vegas, circa late 1930s. It reads "Las Vegas, Nevada. Gateway to world's greatest engineering project - Boulder Dam." The third image (0272_0103) shows the Boulder Dam and reads, "Finished" (duplicate of Image 0272_0097).

Description

Entrance gate to Pahrump Valley Company which includes the hotel, ranch, school, homes, etc in 1916. Notice water flowing across road; it was from an artesian well and was used for irrigation. Handwritten inscription on back of photo reads, "1916 entrance gate to Pahrump Valley Compny Ranch,Store, School; hotel, boarding house, bunk house, blacksmith shop, duplex homes, implement shed, home of ranch foreman. Notoce water flowingacross the road. From the spring, pools artesian well across corrall & fields where it was ditched for irrigation." It also has this stamp on the back, Pahrump Tribune P. O. Box218A Pahrump, NV 89041.
