Bigglestone, Kay W. (Kay Woodruff), 1939-

Description

Kay W. Bigglestone (1939-) is a retired teacher, and was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She received her academic training at Oberlin College in Ohio and at the University of Arizona. During her career, she taught and supervised the Title VII program at Baboquivari High School on the Tohono O'odham reservation, instructed refugee and general education (GED) classes at Pima County Adult Education, and was an adjunct writing instructor at Pima Community College’s East Campus. She and her late husband William E. “Bill” Bigglestone (1924-2016) co-authored Tucson's Catalina Vista: The Neighborhood and Some of its People in 2003. She also authored Mabel Koehler Woodruff, 1907-1996, and Her Family, as well as Pilgrim Souls: Grace and St. Paul’s Episcopal Churches and their Merger. She is a member of Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Bigglestone is the oldest daughter of Robert Woodruff, a local photographer in the Las Vegas area and owner of “Woodruff’s Basic Photo” in Henderson, Nevada. She donated her father’s papers and photographs to UNLV Special Collections & Archives in 2001.
