Abstract

The Jerry Jackson Papers, 1953 to 2009, contain materials related to Jackson's career in entertainment as a director, producer, choreographer, writer, lyricist, and costume designer. Jackson's work on Folies-Bergère at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada is the most extensive show represented. Materials also include documentation of Jackson's other stage, film, and television productions. The papers include general production information, correspondence, costume design drawings, wardrobe notes, choreography notes, sheet music, music scores, lyrics, budgetary information, production photographs, show outlines and rundowns, set designs, scripts and publicity materials.

The Hal Belfer Papers chronicle the professional career of producer, choreographer, and writer Harold (Hal) Belfer (1935-2004) and consist of general materials regarding his work in Hollywood, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. One of the scrapbooks contains photographs of famous personalities from his early work in movies and theater. Also included are newspaper clippings, scripts, sheet music, arrangements, and photocopies of "Fabulous Las Vegas" and "Ken's Spotlight on Las Vegas," where Belfer had made notations.

The Active Republican Women's Club Records (1977-2010) consist of scrapbooks and a video documenting the history and activities of the Active Republican Women's Club (ARW) of Las Vegas, Nevada. The scrapbooks contain numerous newspaper clippings, photographs, and some personal correspondence. Many of the clippings have also been annotated with notes by various ARW members.

The Larry Billman Papers (1961-1975) primarily reflect his work in the entertainment industry of Las Vegas, Nevada as a dancer, choreographer, and director. Materials include scripts, photographs, music scores, contracts, ephemera, and magazine and newspaper clippings. The collection also includes two scrapbooks and photographs of Tomoko (Katsuko) Billman performing in shows like "Holiday in Japan" at the New Frontier Hotel and Casino and "Rome Swings" at Caesars Palace in the late 1950s into the mid-1960s as well as photographs of Tomoko and other "Holiday in Japan" performers at various reunions.

The majority of the collection relates to Taber’s work and pilot programs at the Brecksville Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in Brecksville, Ohio, with select materials pertaining to an alcohol dependency treatment program he coordinated at the VA hospital in Reno, Nevada.

Collection is comprised of correspondence, speeches, essays, meeting minutes, photographs, research materials, publications, press clippings, awards, and event programs (1941-2011) that document the life of Henry Schuster, and his work with his wife Anita. Materials are mainly related to the Holocaust and to Holocaust memory and survivor organizations (especially the Holocaust Survivor's Group of Southern Nevada, which the couple founded, and L’Œuvre de Secours aux Enfants). Genealogical information is also included, as well as records of Henry Schuster’s time in the U.S. Army and his studies at the Manhattan Technical Institute.
