The Southern Nevada Historical Society Records document the management and development of the Southern Nevada Historical Society (SNHS) as well as various historical projects in Las Vegas and Southern Nevada that the society sponsored from 1948 to 1983. The records include SNHS correspondence (1951-1978), meeting minutes (1958-1983), and accounting information (1959-1980). It also contains copies of the SNHS Backtrails Newsletter, promotional material for events, membership lists, and research materials for various projects related to the history of southern Nevada and Las Vegas.

The Dow Metals, Incorporated Records on Basic Magnesium, Incorporated (1940-1951) contains reports and photographs pertaining to the Colorado River Commission of the Nevada Basic Magnesium Project, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Dow Metals, Incorporated Photograph Collection on Basic Magnesium, Incorporated (approximately 1940 to 1990) contains black-and-white photographic prints, reproduction prints, and negatives depicting scenes at the Basic Magnesium, Inc. (BMI) plant in Henderson, Nevada. Images also include Basic townsite homes, buildings, and residents; BMI employees; and interior and aerial views of the plant. Also included are images from Pittman, Nevada of row houses, tent houses, a recreation center, and dining and entertainment establishments.

The Victor Kunkel Photograph Collection (approximately 1890-1943) consists of black-and-white photographic prints and negatives, dating primarily between 1940 and 1943. The majority of the images depict the construction of Basic Magnesium, Inc. (BMI), in Henderson, Nevada; the remaining images depict a variety of locations and events in Kunkel's birthplace, Winslow, Arizona.

Oral history interview with Mary Ellen Schwartz and Jane Fleming conducted by Marta Planzo on December 11, 1975 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. The sisters begin by discussing their family's ownership of mines near Goodsprings, Nevada and what metals were found in those mines. They describe life in Goodsprings and more of their family history, such as their uncles who moved to Henderson, Nevada to work for Basic Magnesium. The two continue, discussing the other families in Goodsprings and how the town has changed.

Oral history interviews with Joan Swift conducted by Sue Peterson on March 18, 2004, March 25, 2004, and June 22, 2004 for the Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Swift discusses life in Las Vegas, Nevada during the 1940s and 1950s. Swift begins the interview by describing her upbringing in the Basic townsite and Boulder City, Nevada, attending Basic High School, and life in Southern Nevada during World War II. She then discusses working in the Clark County Recorder's office, explaining her job duties and what function the office served for the county. Swift continues, talking about recreation activities at the time, including visiting the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and the Helldorado Parades. Swift discusses nuclear weapons testing at the Nevada Test Site and her career as the Clark County recorder. Lastly, she describes her thoughts on the future of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oral history interview with Harry Myers conducted by Dan D’Amico on February 26, 1977 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In this interview, Myers discusses arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1942 to work at the Basic Magnesium Plant. Myers then discusses the increase in gambling and development of casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. Myers later describes the social changes throughout Las Vegas.
